Sook Hyun Kim is currently serving as the Cathedral Organist at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles CA.  In recent years,  Ms. Kim was invited to play a solo recital at All Saint Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills sponsored by the Los Angeles AGO chapter and the Summer organ concert “Harmonic Splender” at the OLA Cathedral playing the magnificent Dobson Organ Op. 75. Also played as guest organist with LA Opera in season 2022- 2023 production “Mosse” by Henry Mollocone under the direction of James Conlon.

As a concert organist, Ms. Kim played throughout  Paris as a participant in the International Organ Music Seminar’s French Organ Music Seminar, in which she also participated in the 2017 season. On tour, she performed in masterclasses with Daniel Roth, Yannick Merlin, Gabriel Marghieri, and François Espinasse at St. Sulpice, Palace of Versailles, La Madeleine, St. Severin, and St. Ouen in Rouen. In addition, she also toured England with the same group and performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral in London in 2019.


Ms. Kim has performed in master classes most notably with Simon Preston, David Higgs, and Stefan Engels. Ms. Kim also studied  César Franck's major organ works and numerous French organ repertoire at the Princeton University Chapel with Eric Plutz. As a concert organist, Ms. Kim has performed in many of the major notable venues in the United States, Europe, and Asia such as the Alice Tully Hall in NYC, Jack Singer Concert Hall in Canada, and Emmanuel College in Cambridge, England. Ms. Kim was appointed the organist for the Annual Christmas Concert at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. in 2013 and 2014 which were broadcast nationally on EWTN. she also participated in the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at the Mannes College of Music in NYC many years. She has also extensively collaborated with numerous chamber groups, brass ensembles, and soloists as a pianist and accompanist. Ms. Kim's previous organ positions include Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Lambertville, NJ,  Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NYC, Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge, and the Trinity School in Pawling, NY.


Ms. Kim holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, a Master of Sacred Music degree from the Catholic University of America, and completed a two-year Professional Studies Program at the Juilliard School in New York City. She studied organ with John Weaver, Jeremy Filsell, and Elizabeth Farr, and organ improvisation with Gerre Hancock. She has also studied piano with Robert Spillman and Nina Linchuck, and conducting under Leo Nestor. She is the recipient of the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 Magi Carrigan Scholarship from the Catholic University of America and is the 2014 recipient of the Nancy Bannister Scholarship from the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
